Much to his team’s surprise and delight, Oliver Queen, the Arrow, built a new lair to facilitate crime fighting activities. The new digs were sorely needed because Arrow’s way of fighting crime changed. He used to fly solo, but he now surrounds himself with a solid core of teammates. From an economic point of view, Arrow’s approach to crime fighting is now labor intensive. Sure, they have some technology, but it is the people who do the real work.
Compare this to Batman (see the video Batman: Cape and Batmobile). The Caped Crusader mainly replies on capital to fight crime. This requires a much smaller team. While, both heroes use capital and labor to defeat the bad guys, they each go about the task in their own unique ways.
These two videos can be used side by side to illustrate an isocost and isoquant analysis of crime fighting. This is more formally laid out in the lesson plan “Producing justice, hero style, with isocosts and isoquants“.
