In this clip we see Bruce Wayne beginning to build his cache of crime fighting toys. Batman likes to work alone, and the addition of capital helps him succeed on the mean streets of Gotham. To get the best equipment, he approaches Lucius Fox who knows all about high tech capital. Lucius introduces Bruce to something that will allow him glide through the night, and a cool set of wheels.
Compare this to The Arrow (see the video Arrow’s New Lair). The Arrow has some neat capital, but it protects his tools and identifies where crime is taking place. Except for the bow and arrows, the capital does not assist in the actual crime fighting. For that, Arrow needs his team. While, both heroes use capital and labor to defeat the bad guys, they each go about the task in their own unique ways.
These two videos can be used side by side to illustrate an isocost and isoquant analysis of crime fighting. The lesson plan “Producing justice, hero style, with isocosts and isoquants” formally lays this out.
