Superman is fed up. Year after year he fights off the bad guys and they keep coming back. So, he makes an announcement that if people won’t stop hostilities, he will take action. No longer will borders or institutions contain him. He’s taking over.
This is a story of someone with almost limitless power announcing that he will use that power to make the world safe. The question is: at what cost? What do you have to give up to be safe? Giving up freedom for security, or security for freedom, is a choice individuals and societies are confronted with, which means this is a scenario with economic consequences.
