In Superman #234, the Man of Steel arrives on an island where the natives are in danger from an active volcano.  Ready to save the day, the evil Boysie Harker tells Superman to hit the road.  Superman is not allowed on Boysie’s private property.  Superman, ever the man of law and order, must figure out a way to keep an island full of people from being killed without breaking the law!

Private property rights are instrumental in a well-functioning economy, but they only work insofar as there are legal institutions to protect those rights.   Superman is willing to violate Harker’s property rights only as a last resort.  He will save the natives, but will exhaust all legal avenues first because he is a man who abides by the rules.  If only all strongmen behaved that way.
