Its payday for the Teen Titans, but Robin wants them to learn to respect money.  He goes on to give them a lesson on what money is.  Beast Boy takes this to the extreme and inaugurates a money coup.  He is now going to use bees as money.  Everyone but Robin agrees, so bees become currency.  Robin is now faced with paper money and coins that have no intrinsic value.  While Beast Boy becomes rich, Robin is left trying to scrounge for bees.

This clip covers all you need to know about money.  The absurdity of using bees as money comes from the fact that bees are not durable, and they are difficult to transport meaning they do not fit the characteristics of good money.  Nevertheless, money has value as long as everyone agrees on it.  Robin doesn’t want to use bees as money, but he cannot buy things, so his paper money loses its ability to act as a medium of exchange.  We see he is left trying to keep warm by burning his paper and trying to eat his coins for sustenance.  The problem he faces is that paper money and coins has no intrinsic value.  Robin is going to have to give in if he wants to participate in the economy.
